Gi or Kimono - buying an official Carlson Gracie Gi is encouraged but not required, although you will need to purchase Carlson Gracie patches for any Gi you do wear. These are available for purchase in the academy.
If you choose to buy your own Gi, our recommendation is the buy the cheapest Gi that you think will be the best fit. Don't worry about getting the best one, just something that is going to work! You can get fancy further down the line.
I also advise buying a coloured Gi as opposed to white. They tend to shrink less and age better.
For price and ease of delivery, San Diego based FightersMarket.com (no affiliation) is a great choice. Just choose Men, Women or Kids and select 'Kimono'.
This is their sizing guide.
No Gi - again, official Carlson Gracie No Gi apparel is encourage, but not required. You are not required to add any Carlson Gracie patches to No Gi clothing.
You can again buy attire from FightersMarket.com, although for No Gi, any rash guard or board shorts will work well too.
You can also wear regular sports shorts and tops, although they tend to not be as hard wearing (more likely to stretch and rip) as board shorts, rash guards and specifically designed No Gi apparel.
